Mr. & Mrs. Patel have chosen an oak and painted mix for their kitchen in Camberley, Surrey. The furniture is an in-frame design with a simple shaker door both of which feature a sturdy 30mm thick construction with birch veneered interiors. There is a mix of oak and painted features with oak on the main kitchen run broken up with painted pilasters and painted plinths.
On the island we went for the opposite, painted on the doors and frames with oak pilasters and oak for the worktop. At one end of the worktop we incorporated an area for stools, this provides an informal space for people to sit and converse with whoever maybe doing the cooking.
The Patel’s wanted to link the kitchen with a matching dining table. So we created a bespoke piece that complemented the kitchen design. This was done by using chunky square legs, painted in the same Farrow & Ball ‘Pigeon’, which mirror the pilasters found on the island as well as a thick oak table top.
Back over at the kitchen, the Patel’s had quite a large AGA which needed some kind of canopy, we recreated the same design that can be found in the showroom. It is quite large but we feel that it complements the large size of the AGA nicely. Just to the right of the AGA is another bespoke piece in the form of a countertop larder. This used another feature the Patel’s liked from our showroom which are the bi-fold doors. Four doors that neatly layer back to reveal a large amount of easily accessible food storage space.
Just off of the main kitchen area is a small snug. In this space we have added a lovely dresser unit, this is again was created to complement the style of the main kitchen so it features; v-groove panels on the sides, shaker style doors with in-frames all painted in the lovely ‘Pigeon’ colour. The top used is a thick oak worktop with complementing oak shelves above.
