Mrs. Bowler was renovating her 70’s bungalow in Medstead, Hampshire, and wanted to create a large open plan living space with a kitchen that suited her style. The house is set in beautiful countryside with fields running all the way around the back. This meant that floor to ceiling French windows where ideal to let in the great views and provide a huge amount of light. This was a theme that ran through the house with large windows and pale white walls.
As such we recommended a High Gloss Rotpunkt design which, we think, looks stunning and is one of our personal favourites of all our Rotpunkt projects.
The kitchen features a Rotpunkt Zerox HL door in White. A high gloss door that is very reflective and really continues the light and airy look of the room. This was coupled with large 50mm block ends to create a chunky look that frames the units and large range cooker.
To accent the white high gloss doors and panels we used Rotpunkt’s Grey Wild Oak. This is one of Rotpunkt’s attractions, their wood effect panels are truly stunning and lifelike without the real wood price tag. The Grey wild oak was used on the countertop shutter unit with smoked glass, the floating shelves next to said unit, the custom American style fridge freezer housing with built in wine rack and the freestanding tall units that house all the larder items.
The main feature of this kitchen is the ultra-modern island. Curves where created by the people at Wharf Solid Surfaces. Wharf create acrylic worktops that are seamlessly joined for a complete slab look. One of the amazing features to wharf is that you can pretty much make any shape you like, this was meant that they were the ideal choice for creating the beautiful curved breakfast bar with a perfectly curved wharf under worktop support. LED lights run the length of this bar for the perfect look.
Cocooned within the island is a Mercury 1098 range cooker. This modern styled range features a stainless steel exterior with fan ovens and induction hob. Once again wharf have outdone then self and the Mercury range is snugly framed by the seamless worktop. Above this hangs an Elica Galaxy island extractor hood.
As well as kitchen furniture Mrs. Bowler asked if we could create a media centre that would house her TV and other ancillaries, so we used the same High Gloss doors and Grey Wild Oak panelling. The TV sits inside an inset nook that has a floating shelf that is flanked by two tall units with White high gloss doors and Grey Wild Oak interiors. Below that you have two 1.2 metre handless drawers for a huge amount of storage.
